What is the Forensic CPA Society?

The Forensic CPA Society is a professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the field of forensic accounting. We provide certification, education, and a supportive community for forensic accountants.

Our mission is to develop forensic accountants who can uncover the truth, protect financial systems, and make meaningful contributions to the pursuit of justice. We aim to lead in advancing the field of forensic accounting while upholding the highest ethical standards. 

As a member, you will have access to a network of dedicated professionals, expert faculty, and a curriculum designed to prepare you for the demands of forensic accounting. You will also receive Continuing Professional Education (CPE) and training to help you excel in your career.

The Forensic CPA Society was founded on July 15, 2005, by Donna Larsen. It was established to promote excellence in forensic accounting and to provide certification for CPAs specializing in this field.

What is forensic accounting?

Forensic accounting is a specialized area of accounting that involves investigating financial records to uncover fraud, embezzlement, and financial misconduct. It plays a crucial role in legal and regulatory matters, providing critical financial evidence for dispute resolution and criminal investigations.

To earn the Forensic Certified Public Accountant (Forensic CPA) credential, candidates must meet certain eligibility requirements and complete the certification process. 

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Candidates must meet one of the following: 
  • Hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or an equivalent professional accounting designation. 
  • Hold a degree or recognized credential in a related anti-fraud field. These applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 
  • Hold an Associate-level membership with the Forensic CPA Society.  
  • Successfully complete the two-part exam. 
  • Upon successfully passing the two-part exam, candidates must submit an application for Forensic CPA Credential Membership with the Forensic CPA Society. Once approved, they will receive their official Forensic Certified Public Accountant (Forensic CPA) credential and certificate. 
What membership levels does the Forensic CPA Society offer?

The Forensic CPA Society offers two levels of membership: 

  • Associate Membership 
  • Forensic CPA Credential Membership 

The Associate Membership is ideal for professionals exploring forensic accounting or working in related fields. It provides access to essential resources, networking opportunities, and professional development programs. This membership is designed for individuals preparing for the Forensic CPA exams and is the first step toward earning the FCPA credential. Annual Fee: USD $125

This membership is for professionals who have successfully completed the Forensic CPA exam. It grants the right to use the FCPA designation and includes exclusive access to advanced resources, continued education, and international networking opportunities. 
Annual Fee: USD $150 

Members receive:

You can apply by visiting our official website and selecting the membership level that aligns with your current status and professional goals.

After successfully completing the exam and achieving the FCPA credential, you must remain an active Forensic CPA Credential Member by paying the annual membership fee as well as complete a minimum of 20 hours of CPE each year in anti-fraud, legal, forensic accounting, or other approved related fields. At least 10 of these hours must relate directly to the Forensic CPA body of knowledge.

The FCPA Program is a professional certification that equips CPAs and financial professionals with the specialized skills required for forensic accounting. It covers fraud detection, financial investigations, litigation support, and expert testimony.

Each part includes 120 multiple-choice questions with a 3.5-hour time limit. Candidates must score at least 70% overall and complete both parts within one year. 

Yes. Candidates may retake the exam up to three times. The fee is USD $300 per attempt. 

Candidates must submit an application for Credential Membership. Once approved, they will receive the official Forensic CPA credential and certificate. 

What study formats are available?
    • Instructor-Led Program: Includes live classes (twice weekly for 6 months), recorded sessions, real-world case studies, proctored exams, e-book, study guide, and internship opportunities. 
    • Self-Study Program: Includes 24/7 access to recorded content, downloadable materials, PowerPoint presentations, assessments, and two proctored exams. 
  • Choose Instructor-Led if you prefer structure and real-time interaction. 
  • Choose Self-Study if you prefer learning at your own pace with flexibility. 
What are the fees for the Forensic CPA Program?
  • Instructor-Led Program: USD $4,000 
  • Self-Study Program: USD $3,000 

Yes, the retake fee is USD $300 per attempt.
